Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Surf Apps, LLC(“LaunchOtter”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use launchotter.com and the LaunchOtter service (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide. When you use LaunchOtter you give us:

  • Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and either a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider) or, if you sign in with Google, your basic Google profile (name and email).
  • The website URL you submit. We use it to analyze the publicly available website at that address (its logo, colors, fonts, copy, and screenshots) in order to generate your launch video.
  • Project content. The videos you generate, your edits, and any images, audio, or video you upload into the editor.
  • Purchase information. If you buy a paid plan, our third-party payment processor collects your payment details, and we receive your email address and a record of the purchase. We do not store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers log basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, for security and to operate the Service. We also store small preferences (for example, your editor layout) in your browser’s local storage.

2. How we use information

  • To read the website you submit and generate, render, and let you edit launch videos.
  • To provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
  • To process payments and provide support.
  • To send you service and transactional emails — for example account verification, password resets, and purchase receipts. These are required to operate your account and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
  • To send you occasional marketing and product emails such as tips, new features, and promotions. You can opt out of these at any time via the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us — we will still send the essential service emails above.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Service providers. We use trusted third-party providers to help us run, host, secure, and improve the Service — including analyzing the website you submit, generating and rendering your video, storing your projects, processing payments, authenticating your account, and sending our emails. They act on our behalf and may use the data only to provide their services to us.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights and our users.
  • Business transfers. Information may be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use only the storage necessary to operate the Service (such as remembering editor preferences). We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. Data retention

We retain your projects, screenshots, and rendered videos for as long as your project exists so you can re-edit and re-export it. You can delete a project at any time from the Projects page, which removes its associated files on a best-effort basis. We keep records required for legal, accounting, or security purposes for as long as necessary.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You can delete your projects yourself at any time.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International users

We may process and store data in countries other than your own. By using the Service you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in locations with data-protection laws different from those where you live.

9. Children

LaunchOtter is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you of material changes.
